Introduction
The West African Examinations
Council, wishes to inform its cherished public that they have released the provisional
results of candidates who sat for the BECE for both the Public and Private Schools
in 2024.
The Public-school candidates' results will be dispatched to their various schools through the Metropolitan/ Municipal and District Directors of Education. Private school Candidates' results will be accessible on the Council's website: www.waecgh.org. https://eresults.waecgh.org/
STATISTICS
A total number of 569,236
candidates consisting of 282,703 males and 286,533 females from nineteen
thousand, five hundred and five 19,505 participating schools sat for the school’s
examination.
This covers fifty-nine (59) candidates with visual impairment, two hundred and
sixty-three (263) with hearing impairment, and one hundred and sixty-one (161)
candidates with other test accommodation needs.
The examination was written at
Two thousand one hundred and twenty-three (2,123) centres across the country,
while three thousand eight hundred and forty-five (3840) candidates were
absent.
BECE for Private Candidates recorded a total entry figure of one thousand three
hundred and ninety (1390) candidates. This was made up of seven hundred and
fifty (750) males and six hundred and forty (640) females. Fifteen centres (15)
which was mostly regional capitals were used for the BECE for Private
Candidates.
Out of the total number of candidates who sat for the examination, fifty-seven (57) candidates were absent.
EXAMINATION MALPRACTICES
Upon completion of investigations into some irregularities detected during the conduct of the examination and marking of scripts, the Final Awards and Examiners Appointment Committee for the BECE at its 35th Meeting held on Wednesday October 16, 2024 approved as follows:
Cancellation of Subject Results
for 377 school candidates and 3 private candidates, on account of having
committed the offence of bringing foreign materials into the examination hall
or colluding with other candidates;
Cancellation of all results for 41 school candidates and 1 private candidate;
Withholding of the whole results of 33 school candidates and 3 private
candidates;
Whereas results of some subjects for candidates from 149 schools have been withheld over reported irregularities. The withheld results may be cancelled or released based on outcome of investigations.
CAUTION
The Council wishes to caution all stakeholders to beware of fraudsters who for a fee promise to upgrade results. Candidates are to note that WAEC results are secured and could be authenticated.
CONCLUSION
The Council is grateful to all stakeholders, particularly the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, the Security Agencies, the Heads of Schools, Supervisors, Invigilators, Examiners, and all others who, in diverse ways, supported it in conducting the examination successfully and the release of the results.
